Facelift at FAC Orange County if your top choice in OC for facial rejuvenation procedures. A combination of aging, genetics and sun exposure can make a person’s face start to look older than that person feels on the inside. Facelift is a customizable plastic surgery that reverses common signs of aging by minimizing lines around the mouth and removing excess fat and skin that causes jowls. After a facelift, patients look younger as a result of having smoother, elastic-like skin and restored definition to the jawline.
WHY CHOOSE FACIAL AESTHETIC CONCEPTS?
The surgeons at Facial Aesthetic Concepts — Dr. Richard Gangnes and Dr. Bryan Brandon — are among the most skilled and experienced in Orange County. Both doctors specialize exclusively in facial plastic surgery and their superior techniques allow them to produce better, more natural results on behalf of their patients.
They view facelift surgery like making a bed: if the sheet underneath is not smooth, then the comforter on top will never be smooth. That is why they put so much focus on adjusting the underlying muscles and tissues rather than simply pulling the skin tighter.
Dr. Gangnes and Dr. Brandon are also deliberate with their incisions to minimize scarring. Most patients’ scars are virtually invisible after the incision has proper time to heal. Incisions are placed in and around the ear, hiding easily along the ear’s natural curves. Since straight lines stand out, the surgeons make irregular incisions that easily stay concealed within the hair and hairline.
WHAT IS Facelift?
Many types of surgery are categorized as “facelift,” which is why patients need to be judicious when selecting a facelift surgeon. Some surgeons perform a skin lift, which limits the changes to skin plication. This usually creates an unnatural and pulled look. Moreover, the results do not last as long and the tightness of the skin can add tension to the incision points, which makes the scars more visible.
How Facelift
Dr. Gangnes and Dr. Brandon offer SMAS (superficial musculoaponeurotic system) facelift. This surgery first repositions the underlying muscle and tissue structures before manipulating the skin on top. This results in a more natural appearance and reduces the amount of tension placed on the skin.
Mini Facelift
Our surgeons also perform mini facelift (AKA microlift) on patients with mild to moderate signs of aging on the face. The key to achieving effective, attractive mini lift results is to reposition both the skin and muscle (and to a lesser extent, the underlying tissue). Some doctors believe that skin plication alone can be considered a mini facelift. Please take some time to speak with our surgeons to see what the cost of a facelift based on your individual needs.

FACELIFT COMPLEMENTARY PROCEDURES
Patients who have facelift surgery often choose to pair it with another surgery to achieve more uniform facial rejuvenation. Neck lift is the most popular because it eliminates sagging neck skin to complement the tighter jawline attained by removing the jowls. Another common choice is blepharoplasty, which can give upper or lower eyelids a younger, more rested appearance.
FACELIFT RECOVERY AND RESULTS
Facelift surgery is performed as an outpatient procedure, meaning that patients return home the same day. Patients can take pain medication to relieve lingering discomfort in the days after surgery. Bruising and swelling will largely subside over the first couple weeks. Getting plenty of rest, keeping the head elevated, using a cold compress and following a healthy diet can all help accelerate the healing process. Most patients feel (and look) well enough to return to work after 10 to 14 days.
While facelift reverses signs of aging, it does not put a stop to the aging process. Results from facelift typically last about 10 years before wrinkles and jowls reappear. Using moisturizer and avoiding direct sun exposure can help to prolong the results. Opting for routine facials and laser treatments can also help prolong your facelift results.
