Here at Facial Aesthetic Concepts, we offer many non-invasive, non-surgical options that can help treat your concerns. One of these options is Intense Pulsed Light Therapy, or IPL, also referred to as photofacial or photorejuvenation.
IPL uses pulses of light to concentrate treatment directly on the areas that need improvement or correction, without any damage to surrounding skin. This means there is no downtime following treatment with little to no side effects.
IPL Therapy can help reduce or correct redness from rosacea and sun damage, such as age spots. The treatment can also minimize large pores, decrease scars as well as fine lines and wrinkles. This technique is an excellent option that will result in significant, visible improvement (generally after three to five sessions total). The heat generated during treatment works to stimulate the upper layers of your skin and increase the production of natural collagen. Any time that collagen is stimulate, it creates healthier, firmer, and younger-looking skin.
The process of IPL Therapy is very simple and easily performed by one of our trained medical professionals in any one of our three locations. Prior to treatment, you will need to have a consult with one of our doctors to determine if this is a good option for you.
How To Prepare
Because this type of therapy uses pulses of light, you will wear protective goggles during treatment. The provider will also put cooling gel on your skin if needed.
What To Expect
While the procedure is relatively painless, some people do experience mild discomfort during the pulses. Patients have described it like the snapping of a rubber band. Depending on the size of the area being treated, the process can take anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes. As you continue the treatments, time will lessen as the areas of concern improve.
Post-Treatment Care
Post-treatment care is simple and consists of avoiding anything that can irritate your skin. It may feel like a mild sunburn, so avoid the sun, hot showers and harsh skincare for a few days. The discomfort, if any, should dissipate in a matter of days.
We’d love to answer any questions you have about IPL Therapy or any of the other treatments and procedures we offer at Facial Aesthetic Concepts. Call one of our three offices today to set up an appointment or consultation so we can find the right option for your concerns.
