Liposuction vs CoolSculpting
Which Is Right For You?
When it comes to choosing between surgical or nonsurgical procedures, hardly anything comes close to the liposuction vs CoolSculpting debate. According to data courtesy of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, both lipo and its non-invasive alternative rank among the top 3 procedures in their respective categories (1). More specifically, liposuction is the second most widespread surgical procedure for 2018. CoolSculpting, on the other hand, sits at number 3 among other methods that fall under the nonsurgical fat reduction category. But which one is the best option for you? We'll help you to figure out below! Liposuction or simply lipo is a surgical procedure that was developed in the 1980s. When diet and exercise aren’t enough to give you the body shape you’re looking for, liposuction may be the right choice. This type of procedure removes pockets of fat from specific areas of the body that remain unaffected by your weight loss methods. Nowadays, this technique is the most widespread procedure for fat removal in the U.S. Booty Boost Our Booty Boost procedure is a procedure in which your own fat is placed in your buttock to give your booty a natural boost! With a booty boost procedure liposuction is performed as well to contour your waist and flatten your abdomen, the fat taken from liposuction is what is injected into your buttock. Give your booty a natural boost and contour your waist using LipoSculpture with fat transfer. Learn about our incision-less Booty Boost procedure, click here. CoolSculpting is the name of a modern, nonsurgical method used for getting rid of stubborn fat. It relies on cryolipolysis, which is a fat freezing technique that quite literally freezes fat cells. Once frozen, the now-dead fat cells they are naturally processed and eliminated from the body through the lymphatic system. This process happens gradually after the treatment and full results can be seen by 3 months following the treatment. CoolSculpting has been FDA-approved since 2010. Ever since then, this cryolipolysis-based technique has gained immense popularity as the go-to alternative to lipo. Whether it's about CoolSculpting your abdomen, back, flanks, or thighs fat, there's basically zero downtime. In order to truly figure out which procedure would suit you better, you have to take several factors into consideration. Thus, take into account these 5 aspects to answer the question "Is lipo or CoolSculpting right for me?". Depending on how much you're willing to spend for the procedure, CoolSculpting can be the better option. That's because this noninvasive method doesn't come with any operating room or anesthesia fees. However, liposuction might be more cost-effective in the long run. For instance, you might achieve optimal results with only a single lipo session. While for CoolSculpting can require more than one procedure for similar results. Regardless, it all comes down to how big the target area is and how much fat there is to be taken out. Generally speaking, CoolSculpting can be more cost-effective for smaller areas. While lipo might be more budget-friendly when it comes to dealing with multiple sites with lots of fat tissue. This aspect boils down to how big of a change you'd like to achieve in the shape of your body. Are you after the feminine hourglass-shape or do you simply want to shrink a particular fat bulge? For smaller changes (i.e. getting rid of fat bulges) CoolSculpting can be the better option. However, if you're trying to alter your body shape more dramatically, liposuction can be more optimal for you. If you are interested in optimal contouring results, adding/restoring volume to an area of your body for a more contoured figure then lipo with fat transfer will be the options for you. Typically, CoolSculpting works optimally for body areas where the associated applicators can be placed. This means that areas like the flanks, thighs, lower abs (belly) and beneath the chin are very CoolSculpting-friendly. As for lipo - it can be used just as well on various areas. From huge amounts of fat tissue located around the midsection to tiny bits of fat around your knees. All of this is possible thanks to your surgeon adequately adjusting the methods and tools used during the procedure. If you are looking to get rid of a larger specific area of fat, then liposuction may be best, but if you are looking to get rid of just a bit of fat in a specified area CoolSculping can work great as well. Consultations are key to identifying the right procedure you want, the provider get to discuss with you your goals and assess your body to determine which will give you the best results. In short, if you're looking for a procedure with practically no downtime, CoolSculpting is your best bet. Also, due to the fact that this technique is nonsurgical, it can be done in under an hour. But for lipo, it can take at least a few days of rest and up to several weeks to fully recover. And since surgery is involved, you'll have to deal with things like post-procedure swelling. You have to consider your desired results, do you want your results to give you a flat stomach and defined contours or do you want to only target an area of stubborn fat to reduce bulge and improve contours? We're always more than glad to assist you in figuring out if liposuction or CoolSculpting is better for you. 5 Factors To Consider When Choosing Liposuction Or CoolSculpting1. Your Budget
2. Your Body Shape Goals
3. Your Desired Target Areas
5. Expected Results
Liposuction will achieve better results as more fat is able to be removed at once versus CoolSculpting which can eliminate up to 25% of targeted fat cells. Your body can be better shaped and sculpted with liposuction as the surgeon targets areas to eliminate fat. Another consideration is that the fat from liposuction can be used to improve your contours in areas such as hips, butt, or breast.
Results will be more dramatic and noticed quicker with Liposcution, whereas CoolSculpting can take up to 3 months to see results which can be subtle. Let Us Help You Make Your Mind!

Let's face it, having an attractive and prominent jawline is attractive to both men and women. Unfortunately, things like loose skin under the chin and excess chin fat can definitely hamper one's profile. Thankfully though, whether you're dealing with a ‘turkey neck’, sagging jowls - we've got you covered! And in this article, we'll take a closer look at what causes these imperfections and how to overcome them. For the most part, the appearance of the turkey neck and/or jowls is caused by the natural aging process, but can be noticed sooner in some individuals. A recent issue called “tech neck” has caused more women at a younger age notice lax skin on their neck and jaw due to constant looking down at your phone or computer. As we age our skin gradually starts losing some of its elasticity. Not only that, but the skin also starts to lose connective tissue and collagen, which gives your skin that full and rounded shape. And while aging has a direct effect on the skin that as a result becomes less elastic, the neck muscles play a role too. Our muscles act as support for our skin and that's crucial when it comes to the neck area. We can use Botox to relax the platysmal band muscle to prevent the wrinkles caused by this muscle from causing lax skin and wrinkles sooner. All of this eventually leads to the infamous turkey neck as well as jowls. Even though we all inevitably go through the aging process, certain aspects may speed up aging, such as: No one can control his or her genetics, but we definitely can control other risk factors like UV exposure, posture, and smoking. Thanks to technological advances we are able to reverse, prevent, and improve the appearance of jowls and turkey neck from procedures, to treatments, and products. On one hand, minimizing certain risk factors like smoking and sun exposure might help. Also, specific exercises can help tone the muscles in the neck and face area. Genetics is something you can’t avoid or prevent from occurring, but you can take preventative measures to prevent premature aging. As for reversing the appearance of jowls and turkey neck - here are the most effective treatment options that we currently offer and recommend: Neck lift surgery is also known as a lower rhytidectomy. This procedure is used to improve and correct aesthetic problems that occur in the skin and underlying tissue of the neck. Such problems include sagging or relaxed skin that creates the appearance of jowls, excess fat beneath the chin, loose skin on the neck due to weight loss, and “bands” on the neck that create displeasing contours. If you have fat under the chin as well, submental liposuction can be performed in conjunction with a necklift. Submental Lipo Submental Liposuction is the process of removing excess fat under the chin, known as a “double chin”. Most people who don’t like the look of their neck are experiencing loose, sagging skin, which won’t be corrected with liposuction alone. But very often, liposuction is used as part of a neck lift to remove fat cells in the submental region – particularly for people who have a “double chin.” Younger people who just want better definition below their jawline are the most likely patients to have liposuction alone without additional surgical correction. ThermiTight ThermiTight is a painless, micro-invasive procedure that uses injectable radiofrequency energy — the science of heat — to reduce the appearance of sagging skin on the neck and jowls. ThermiTight tightens skin, stimulates collagen production and reduces fat. Dramatic results are usually achieved after just 1 treatment. Because there is minimal discomfort and downtime, you can usually return to your normal activities in a matter of hours. You may be asked to wear a chin strap after your procedure in order to optimize your recovery. Submental liposuction can be performed as well to rid of excess chin fat to provide the appearance of a tighter jawline. ThermiTight is perfect for patients who want a tighter neck and jowls but do not want surgery. Are you dealing with jowls, a turkey neck and excess sagging skin in the neck or face area? Are you looking for the best way to get rid of turkey neck? We can help you thanks to our modern and highly-effective cosmetic procedures and treatments. What Causes Turkey Neck And Jowls?

Let your garden flourish with three ingredients that are the cornerstone of a powerhouse anti-aging regimen.
At Facial Aesthetic Concepts we believe that at-home skin care is the foundation of any effective anti-aging program. Botox, Fillers and Surgery can do wonders for our appearance, but their full effect can be diminished if the skin isn’t healthy and youthful looking. We use the acronym “GRASS” as a tool to help identify the all the components that should be in a well-rounded, anti-aging skin care regimen: Growth factors, Retinol or other exfoliants, Antioxidant, Specialty products and Sun protection.
The main components of aging are a loss and decrease in production of collagen, elastin, and moisture or hydration. The loss of these can make the skin appear thin, sallow and crepey. There are different types of growth factors that can combat each of these components by working with the body’s natural functions to enhance cellular activity, increase new cell growth, collagen and elastin production, making the skin act and look younger.
Products that include Growth Factors, Peptides, and Glycosaminoglycans (all of which we include in the “G” category) are the newest, most cutting-edge products of all these categories. Products containing these ingredients form the most powerful base for an anti-aging skincare regimen. However, the role that each play in promoting younger looking, healthy skin can be confusing. Let’s break it down to the most basic science behind them using a garden analogy.
Think of your skin like a garden. We want to grow new cells, collagen and elastin, but as we age and encounter free-radicals our soil (skin and cells) gets depleted and weeds (broken down proteins) start to accumulate and choke out all of our healthy roots and plants.
Weeding
Using certain peptides, like those found in Alastin’s Regenerating Skin Nectar and Restorative Skin Complex, is like weeding your garden, cleaning out all the bad stuff that was making an unhealthy environment and preparing your soil for optimal growing conditions.
Fertilizing
Human and plant-based growth factors, like TNS Essential Serum or TNS Recovery Complex
and our C-stem, is like adding fertilizer or miracle grow to your garden. They make everything produce faster and better.
Watering
We all know one of the most important things plants need to grow is water, and our garden/skin is
no exception. In the past we used humectant products, like hyaluronic acid, to bind water moisture to the skin, but that o nly works superficially. Our skin will function best when we get deep, dermal hydration. We are excited to offer a new line of super hydrators from SENTÉ.
SENTÉ products go beyond surface hydration to revive the skin’s natural renewal process. The Sente products, which include the Dermal Contour Pressed Serum, Dermal Repair Cream, and Illuminating Eye Cream, contain a patented Heparan Sulfate Analog (HSA) that is unlike any other hydrating agent. This ingredient is a sulfated glycosaminoglycan that is small enough to penetrate the dermis and promote the ability of the collagen and elastin fibers to retain moisture as well as act as a receptor for our cells to enhance the benefits and absorption of all our other products. It’s like deeply watering our garden and giving our plants more roots to absorb the water and nutrients!
Using one or a combination of these three critical tools of anti-aging will support your skin to be at its optimal healthy and youthful state and will enhance the results of any other treatments or procedure and protect all that you’ve invested into looking and feeling your best.

Hair Restoration for Women
After years of focusing on hair restoration in men initially with surgical techniques and now with more non-invasive techniques the new science of hair restoration allows us to focus on women and the problems associated with hair loss in females.
Only in the last several years have we been able to elucidate the mechanism of hair thinning and hair loss in women and as a result we have also been able to develop strategies that have been found to be very successful in dealing with hair thinning and hair loss in our female patients.
80% of our male patients have or will develop hair loss in their lives while 40% of women have noticeable hair thinning or hair loss. Women who fall in that 40% group are bothered emotionally by the loss that they experience. Studies by members of the international Society of hair restoration surgery have been able to develop strategies that can reverse hair loss and most cases produce regrowth using medical therapies without having to perform hair grafting procedures.
The Examination
The examination is an important part of the journey to achieve better, thicker hair. We perform a careful examination of the hair and scalp which includes magnified photos and close examination using a dermascope. Hair counts are done along with determination of various ratios of hairs in the various stages and determination of the degree of shedding. The important thing for women to know is that baldness is not a feature of female pattern hair loss and through medical therapy stabilization of loss and in most cases regrowth can be achieved.
Treatment Options
The Science Behind Hair Loss Patterns
The causes of female hair loss tend to be multi-factorial in women whereas the cause of hair loss in men tend to be largely related to the hormonal affects of testosterone on hair follicles.
Elegant studies evaluating biopsies from hundreds of women with female pattern hair loss has shown majority of scalp and hair biopsies revealing evidence of an inflammatory process that is not seen in the male population. Chronic inflammation appears to have an adverse effect on the regulation and activity of the hair follicle and when addressed stabilization and regrowth most often occurs.
The cycle of the hair follicle has been divided into three phases.
The anagen phase which is the phase of actively producing and supporting hair within the follicle.
The catagen phase during which there is diminution and decrease activity of the follicle prior to the loss of the hair shaft from the follicle.
Finally, the telogen phase which is the resting phase of the follicle where no hair is produced.
The healthy hair follicle spends many months and years in the active anagen phase until it reaches the catagen phase which can last several weeks where active growth of the hair ceases followed by the telogen phase where the hair sheds from the follicle. This phase may last several months at which time the anagen phase begins again with the growth of a new here. The change that occurs in the haircycle is signaled by genetics and its effect on hormones in the hair follicle and neurotransmitters. The immune system has a profound effect on this signaling and has a greater influence in women.
Whereas male pattern baldness is most often controlled by genetics and the impact on the hormones that affect the hair follicle, hair loss in women is more affected by inflammatory processes from the immune system in the background of genetics and hormones. Because the causes of female pattern hair loss are different than those that we see in men, our medical therapies have shown a much higher degree of hair regrowth and stabilization then in the male population.
The following medical issues are common associated findings in women with hair loss particularly in those who may be genetically predisposed to hair loss based on family history.
Medical issues producing hair loss over a period of months:
Medical issues producing hair loss over a longer period of time:
In order for us to discuss treatment options we first need to determine potential causes. Most women who have thinning or shedding will have a family history of hair loss either in their male or female relatives superimposed on one or several of the above problems. History and type of hair loss in the patient and the patients family history, therefore, is key.
Treatment options are then outlined which in most cases are non invasive and involve medical therapies. With this approach we have been able to stop shedding, thicken the hair, and generate regrowth in the majority of our women patients.
