What is Microneedling?
Microneedling involves repeatedly puncturing the skin with tiny, sterile needles in order to induce the production of cutaneous collagen and elastin. Collagen induction can improve the texture of skin, including improvements in pore size, fine lines, and acne scarring. Thousands of microscopic channels are created in the skin to increase the formation of new tissue by activating the body’s wound healing process.

Goodbye Sun Spots
It is the perfect time to take advantage of our great promotion to treat your sun spots now with either of these treatments, while the days are still cloudy and cool!
IPL/PHOTOFACIAL
Without damaging the skin, the light penetrates through the skin and is absorbed by the abnormally dilated vessels or pigmentation. The heat impairs the vessel or lesion, or breaks down pigmentation, and the body begins its natural healing process while tightening, removing brown discoloration, spider veins, redness and improving skin texture
What is the difference between tone and texture? Skin tone is the evenness of the skin color – sun spots, blotches, redness, etc.; while skin texture is the condition of the surface of the skin – smoothness, pore size, fine lines, etc. IPL works best to improve skin tone, additional treatment such as microneedling can be applied to even greater improve skin texture. IPL requires no downtime and you can return to work the same day!
Most patients see a significant improvement after just one treatment but see additional benefits in multiple sessions. Follow up treatments may be required to maintain results.
FRACTIONAL CO2
Fractional CO2 is a popular laser treatment for the skin that has been shown to dramatically diminish wrinkles and improve sun damage with minimal downtime. The fractional CO2 laser energy heats and vaporizes layers of the skin to remove brown spots and sun damage while it heats the dermis tostimulate new collagen and elastin to reduce lines and wrinkles. This very popular treatment at FAC can be performed in conjunction with the TCA acid peel or photo facial for accentuated results.
Before the Fractional C02 treatment, a numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area to minimize discomfort. Oral sedation is also available at the patient’s request. The skin will feel very warm during the treatment with a mild sunburn sensation lasting for about 2 – 4 hours directly after treatment. Over the next few days there will be some inflammation, the skin will bronze and start to flake within 3 days. Post treatment products are given to ensure comfort and rapid healing. Most patients heal fully within 7-10 days.
Along with your treatment, we provide a complimentary facial with our medical esthetician to ensure proper post treatment rejuvenated skin.
Here at Facial Aesthetic Concepts, we offer many non-invasive, non-surgical options that can help treat your concerns. One of these options is Intense Pulsed Light Therapy, or IPL, also referred to as photofacial or photorejuvenation.
IPL uses pulses of light to concentrate treatment directly on the areas that need improvement or correction, without any damage to surrounding skin. This means there is no downtime following treatment with little to no side effects.
IPL Therapy can help reduce or correct redness from rosacea and sun damage, such as age spots. The treatment can also minimize large pores, decrease scars as well as fine lines and wrinkles. This technique is an excellent option that will result in significant, visible improvement (generally after three to five sessions total). The heat generated during treatment works to stimulate the upper layers of your skin and increase the production of natural collagen. Any time that collagen is stimulate, it creates healthier, firmer, and younger-looking skin.
The process of IPL Therapy is very simple and easily performed by one of our trained medical professionals in any one of our three locations. Prior to treatment, you will need to have a consult with one of our doctors to determine if this is a good option for you.
Because this type of therapy uses pulses of light, you will wear protective goggles during treatment. The provider will also put cooling gel on your skin if needed.
While the procedure is relatively painless, some people do experience mild discomfort during the pulses. Patients have described it like the snapping of a rubber band. Depending on the size of the area being treated, the process can take anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes. As you continue the treatments, time will lessen as the areas of concern improve.
Post-treatment care is simple and consists of avoiding anything that can irritate your skin. It may feel like a mild sunburn, so avoid the sun, hot showers and harsh skincare for a few days. The discomfort, if any, should dissipate in a matter of days.
We’d love to answer any questions you have about IPL Therapy or any of the other treatments and procedures we offer at Facial Aesthetic Concepts. Call one of our three offices today to set up an appointment or consultation so we can find the right option for your concerns.
