Because we use NuFree waxing products, our waxing treatments are very gentle. NuFree will not burn and does not carry the risk of minor allergic reactions like beeswax-based products. Our staff will use wax and muslin strips to remove the hair in the area just the way you want. Please inform us of any discomfort you may have during this process.
Our facilities are designed to maximize comfort during all treatments. We will ensure that your waxing experience is private, professional, and effective. Some areas are more uncomfortable to wax than others, but our professional, experienced estheticians ensure that irritation is minimized.
Your Waxing Recovery & Results
After the strips are removed, the waxing site will probably have some residual redness and tenderness. This usually lasts 1 to 4 hours. Make sure you avoid using any exfoliating agents on the waxed area for at least 24 hours. Aloe vera and other soothing gels will help with irritated skin. After irritation has subsided, you may use gentle lotions to help maximize the smooth feeling of the area, especially on the legs and arms.
Most waxing treatment results last 4 to 6 weeks. This can vary depending on your hair growth cycle. You will start to get a sense of how often you need an area waxed after a few sessions. Most people schedule recurring appointments to maintain their desired look.
At Facial Aesthetic Concepts, we uphold the highest standards in every aspect of our treatments. We have provided excellent care and services to clients in Orange County and beyond since the 1980s.
FAQs
How is pain managed during waxing?
Waxing can be painful for some people, but there are ways to minimize the discomfort you experience during your session. Taking pain medication, such as ibuprofen, a half hour before your appointment can make your treatment more comfortable. In addition, some clients find that applying a cold compress on the areas that are to be treated can also help. Keep in mind that the pain caused by waxing subsides rapidly after the hair is removed, meaning any pain you have will likely be short-lived.
Does the hair need to be a certain length before it can be waxed?
For an effective waxing treatment, the hair needs to be at an optimal length. This is to ensure the wax can properly grip the hair and remove it completely. Before your wax, make sure the hair in the treatment area is approximately one-fourth to three-fourths of an inch long. If the hair exceeds this length, you can trim it.
What are the benefits of waxing?
Waxing boasts several benefits, including:
Lasting results: While waxing will not remove hair permanently, clients can enjoy smooth, hairless skin for a long time following their waxing session. With waxing, the hair is removed at its root. This means it will take longer for the hair to regrow. When hair does start to grow back, many patients notice that it is much finer than it was previously, which makes it that much easier to remove via waxing at your next session.
Prevent razor bumps: One of the most bothersome effects of shaving is razor bumps that can follow. These bumps contribute to an unflattering appearance, and are often itchy and inflamed, leaving many uncomfortable and embarrassed. The team at Facial Aesthetic Concepts wants you to feel comfortable showing off your skin after it has been treated, and waxing allows you to do just that.
Avoid razor cuts: Shaved hair regrows quickly, meaning that you have to do it daily to maintain a smooth appearance. This is why shaving is often considered a beauty chore, meaning it is a necessary but not an enjoyable experience. People often rush through the process, which puts them at risk of getting nicks or cuts. Because no razors or sharp objects are involved in waxing, you can rest assured that your hairless skin will not be speckled with painful razor nicks.
Can I shave between waxing sessions?
While it is possible to shave between waxing sessions, doing so can leave you vulnerable to the negative effects of shaving, like ingrown hairs, essentially negating the benefits of waxing. If you are only interested in cutting down the hair to a manageable length for your next waxing session, consider using scissors.
What are ingrown hairs?
Ingrown hairs occur when hairs that have been removed begin to regrow, but instead of growing straight out of the skin, ingrown hairs curve into the skin. This can occur after any form of hair removal but is regularly associated with shaving.
How should I care for my skin after waxing?
After you have been waxed, it is advisable to wear loose articles of clothing that will not irritate the treatment appear. You should also moisturize with products that are non-comedogenic.
